What to Know Before Reading Alice's Adventures in Wonderland

Alice's Adventures in Wonderland follows a young, bored girl named Alice who spots a peculiar, talking White Rabbit wearing a waistcoat and checking his pocket watch. Driven by curiosity, she follows him down a rabbit hole and plummets into the bizarre, underground world of Wonderland. Upon arrival, Alice finds herself navigating an unstable reality where logic is flipped on its head, and even her own physical size changes drastically depending on what she eats or drinks. As she wanders through this surreal landscape searching for a way home, she encounters a series of highly eccentric and memorable creatures. Her journey brings her face-to-face with the grinning Cheshire Cat, the pipe-smoking Caterpillar, and a perpetually chaotic tea party hosted by the Mad Hatter and the March Hare. Eventually, her path leads to the court of the short-tempered Queen of Hearts, where Alice must navigate a dangerous game of croquet and a highly nonsensical trial, testing her wits against the absolute absurdity of the world around her.
