Multiple clans battle for resources Post-WWIII Martian society Trade shifts to forced tribute Deep family loyalties tested Alliances formed and broken

For generations, the Newcastles, Mackenzies, Atkinses, Hyltons, and Hollinses have endured the hard red soil of Mars--surviving by individual grit, intense family loyalty, and free-market trade.

Scarred by World War III and its long, violent aftermath, they built farms, raised domes, forged alliances, and carried old grudges to a new world. Trade with the nearby Chinese enclaves brought prosperity for a time. But then trade becomes tribute--and tribute becomes force.

What to Know Before Reading Red State Mars

A sprawling hard science fiction epic set in the year 2126, a century after World War III devastated Earth. The narrative follows a tight-knit frontier society established on Mars by five distinct American and Texan clans who survived the global devastation back home and built a decentralized civilization of domed cities rooted in individual grit, free-market trade, and deep family loyalty. For generations, these fiercely independent Martians lived in relative harmony with neighboring enclaves of Chinese dissidents and refugees who had also fled their home government to escape oppressive genetic modification and eugenics programs.

The fragile peace of the red frontier shatters when an aggressive, newly arrived military force from Beijing descends upon the planet to enforce its imperial will. As the Chinese authoritarian government seeks to impose heavy tributes and violently seize essential American resources and transportation networks, the independent clans are forced to defend their home or face absolute subjugation. Outmanned and outgunned by an empire utilizing advanced genetic castes and agentic artificial intelligence tools, the highly divided American families must find a way to overcome their generational internal rivalries and coordinate a unified resistance. What begins as a desperate, localized struggle for survival quickly explodes into an interplanetary war of revolution, transforming a decentralized frontier culture into a brand-new nation fighting for the very concept of liberty.
