About the Book
The Bookseller of Inverness
After the 1746 Battle of Culloden, Iain MacGillivray was left for dead on Drummossie Moor with his face brutally slashed, surviving by pretending to be a corpse while Redcoats patrolled. Six years later, with clan chiefs routed and the Highlands subsumed into the British state, Iain lives quietly as a bookseller in Inverness.
One evening he notices a stranger lingering in his shop. The next morning the stranger is found dead with his throat cut and a sword bearing a white cockade laid before him. Iain becomes entangled in a web of deceit and old scores that persist in the ashes of war.
