Why I built bks.social
I wanted book conversations to last longer than the feed.
I am a reader and an indie author. As I followed books and content creators, I kept noticing the same scenario:
readers (like me) often discover books through posts, reviews, videos, podcasts, and
recommendations, but the useful conversation around those books were scattered across
different platforms. And on those same platforms, all that activity was quickly buried by whatever came next.
A commenter might have great insight or a comment about a book, but that comment sits off to
the side of a video, stacked among hundreds of other comments.
Plus, many great reviews disappear down a feed. A creator would make a great video
about a book and, a few hours later, the algorithm moved on. And because the book title
might not have been in the video title or details, that great review becomes a needle in a haystack...
These are the problems that led to bks.social's vision: build the community around
the thing that does not disappear when the feed refreshes — the book.
Thank you for joining
bks.social is new, and we genuinely appreciate you choosing to spend your time here.
Your time matters to us and as the community grows, we'll listen, respond when something isn't working,
and pay attention to your suggestions. If you run into a problem or have an idea that could make
bks.social better, we want to hear from you.
You'll find our contact method below.
And if you enjoy being here, invite a friend who loves books. New communities grow
through the people who believe they're worth sharing.
What you can do here
bks.social is built for different parts of the book community,
but they all meet around the same books.
Build your library, track reading, rate and discuss books,
discover new titles, and learn more about the patterns
behind what you love to read.
Connect reviews, videos, podcasts, and other book content
directly to the titles you cover, build a lasting creator
presence, and see how your work contributes to discovery
and reader action.
Create an author presence around your books, give readers
a focused place to discover your work, connect with the
community, and build visibility that can continue beyond
a launch or advertising campaign.
A community for All Things Books
Books are more fun when people can talk about them without
having the experience ruined for someone else. bks.social
includes spoiler protection and community moderation so readers
can take part in discussions with more confidence.
