Rise of the Dragons (Kings and Sorcerers--Book 1)

Kyra, fifteen, trains to be a warrior in a fort of boys while she struggles to understand a mysterious inner power and a secret about her birth and prophecy. When the local lord comes to take her away and her father plots to wed her for safety, Kyra refuses and sets out alone into a dangerous wood where she finds a wounded dragon and ignites events that will change the kingdom. Fifteen-year-old Alec sacrifices for his brother by taking his place in the draft and is sent to The Flames, a hundred-foot wall of fire that wards off the Troll army. Mercenary Merk quests through the wood to become a Watcher of the Towers and help guard the Sword of Fire, the kingdom's paranormal source of power, while Trolls prepare a massive invasion.
