About the Book

Hardwired

Cowboy is an ex-fighter pilot who now works as a high-stakes smuggler, transporting contraband across the dangerous, corporate-tariffed landscape of a fractured United States. He is literally "hardwired" to his heavy, lethal electronic hardware via specialized cybernetic sockets embedded in his skull. This advanced neural link allows him to directly interface with his heavily armed vehicle, translating digital data flows and sensory feeds into instantaneous physical reactions. Despite working in a cynical, corporate-dominated criminal underworld, Cowboy retains a rugged, fiercely independent streak reminiscent of a classic Western antihero. Sarah is a highly skilled, cybernetically augmented gun-for-hire and bodyguard who operates within the same gritty criminal underground. Her physical appearance is heavily modified, featuring surgically broadened shoulders, a sharp, angular face, and a distinct aesthetic designed to meet the demands of her clients. Beyond her lethal combat capabilities, Sarah struggles deeply with her own identity, personal agency, and purpose. Her ultimate ambition is to escape her harsh reality on the surface and secure a better life within the affluent orbiting corporate stations, driving her to take on dangerous high-profile mercenary contracts. Reno serves as a vital supporting presence in the network, initially operating as a "wirehead" hacker deeply embedded in the digital grid. Following a catastrophic physical attack, Reno transitions into a disembodied consciousness wandering the vast expanse of the internet. Operating as a ghost in the machine, he uses his digital omnipresence to sift through highly classified corporate databases, providing critical intelligence and support to Cowboy and Sarah from the depths of cyberspace.
