The Dog of the South

Ray Midge is waiting for his credit card bill when his wife, Norma, runs off with her ex-husband, taking Ray's cards, shotgun, and car. From the receipts they leave behind, Ray tracks their purchases and sets off after them. An irritatingly tenacious bail bondsman follows as well, both tracing the couple's spending all the way to Mexico. In Mexico Ray encounters Dr Reo Symes, a seemingly down-on-his-luck and eccentric owner of a beaten-up, broken-down bus who needs a ride to Belize. Ray and Dr Symes continue the pursuit in a car held together by coat-hangers and excesses of oil; the farther they drive, the wilder their journey becomes. Determined and resourceful, they press on to find Norma and reclaim what was taken.
