Orphans flee Paris under Nazi threat Sister Helen orchestrates their escape Lucie faces separation from Margot Journey towards the French coast Difficult choices shape their fate

Paris, 1940: Margot has spent most of her life at St Agnes’ Orphanage, caring for her little sister Lucie and the other war orphans while Sister Helen struggles to keep them safe. When the Nazis approach, the children must flee the city in a rickety truck bound for the countryside, and Margot clings to Lucie as she tries to shepherd the others toward safety.

Sister Helen arranges for a rich family to take Lucie, and Margot watches the gates close on the only home Lucie has known. Devastated, Lucie runs back toward the orphanage, and Margot faces an impossible choice: chase her sister or lead the remaining children to the French coast for a ship to America.

In Paris in 1940, Margot must choose between racing back to rescue her sister Lucie and leading the other Jewish orphans to a ship for America.
