The Home for War Orphans

Paris, 1940: Margot has spent most of her life at St Agnes’ Orphanage, caring for her little sister Lucie and the other war orphans while Sister Helen struggles to keep them safe. When the Nazis approach, the children must flee the city in a rickety truck bound for the countryside, and Margot clings to Lucie as she tries to shepherd the others toward safety. Sister Helen arranges for a rich family to take Lucie, and Margot watches the gates close on the only home Lucie has known. Devastated, Lucie runs back toward the orphanage, and Margot faces an impossible choice: chase her sister or lead the remaining children to the French coast for a ship to America.
