Book Rating for The Second World War
Antony Beevor
Antony Beevor presents a single-volume history that traces the Second World War from Hitler's invasion of Poland on September 1, 1939 to V-J Day on August 14, 1945 and the war's immediate aftermath. The narrative emphasizes the global reach of the conflict and the involvement of every major power in a war described as one of the bloodiest and most tragic events of the twentieth century. Beevor assembles political and military events into a continuous account, aiming to provide an intimate view of the conflict across multiple theaters and of the decisions and battles that shaped its course.
“The amount of detail for this book must have taken so much research.”
